The Orlando Serve Foundation presents our 6th Annual He Got Up! Community Event.

As we all live with new normals surrounding pandemic safeguards, our 2021 events will go forward in a virtual, socially distanced format to be held in part on a Zoom platform. We have determined that even in the midst of Covid 19, the needs of our community have not relented, rather there are greater needs. As we move forward, all of our events will require everyone to wear masks and to practice social distancing.

Each year we offer an opportunity for individuals experiencing hardships due to delinquent court cost, fees and fines to get a reset within the system. Historically, our events have provided a bridge of Restorative Justice in collaboration with the Courts, local Clerk of Court, Governmental Agencies along with Businesses, Faith Based entities and other Community Organizations. All of our Community Partners are passionate about serving our communities and offering a hand up to those in need.

We will offer many opportunities for Volunteers and Community Partners to be involved with us during our virtual, socially distanced events. We believe that many hands make work easier. Please see our Volunteer Opportunities Sheet for a listing of specific opportunities, times, items needed and directions to sign up.

This year He Got Up! will include Free Food Distribution. This part of our event will occur simultaneously yet separately on each event date. The Free Food Distribution will occur at a City of Orlando Community center in a high-need neighborhood as a “drive-through” event.

Special thanks to our long time Community Partners from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their generous donation makes it possible to provide the Free Food Distribution. Another major partner is the Southeastern Food Bank in Ocoee, Fl. The Food Bank provided facilities to receive, sort and package the food for distribution.

The Free Food Distribution part of our event will also offer many opportunities for Volunteers and Community Partners to be involved. In advance of the Free Food Distribution event there are opportunities to help sort and box the food items. Please see our Volunteer Opportunities Sheet for a listing of specific opportunities, times, and directions to sign up.

All volunteers will receive training on specific tasks with scripts as required for virtual Zoom interactions. All aspects of the 2021 events will take every available measure to assure everyone’s health, safety, and wellbeing. Masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be provided.
